About the iPad Pro 12.9 Gen 5 Screen
The 5th-generation iPad Pro 12.9 (2021) brought the M1 chip and Apple’s first Liquid Retina XDR display: a mini-LED backlight with over 10,000 LEDs in 2,596 local dimming zones, up to 1,000 nits full-screen and 1,600 nits peak HDR brightness, plus ProMotion 120Hz. It also introduced a Thunderbolt / USB 4 port and the 12MP Ultra Wide front camera with Center Stage.
The XDR assembly is thicker and more delicate than the earlier LCD panels. Note that a faint halo (blooming) around bright objects on a black background is normal for mini-LED; dark patches, dead zones or lines are signs of damage.
