About the iPad Pro 12.9 Gen 5 Battery
Apple launched the 5th-generation iPad Pro 12.9-inch in 2021 (models A2378, A2461, A2379 and A2462). It was the first iPad with the M1 chip and the 12.9-inch Liquid Retina XDR mini-LED display with 120Hz ProMotion, and it uses Face ID, Apple Pencil (2nd generation) and a Thunderbolt / USB 4 port. Power comes from a built-in 40.88 Wh lithium-polymer battery.
The XDR panel draws a lot of power at high brightness, so ageing cells show fast drain and unexpected shutdowns. The display is glued in place and is lifted carefully to reach the battery, then re-sealed.
