About the MacBook Pro 14″ A2779 M2 Pro/Max (2023) Display
Apple launched the 14-inch MacBook Pro A2779 in January 2023 with the M2 Pro or M2 Max chip. Its 14.2-inch Liquid Retina XDR display uses mini-LED backlighting at 3024 x 1964, ProMotion refresh rates up to 120Hz and up to 1,000 nits sustained (1,600 nits peak) HDR brightness, with a notch for the 1080p FaceTime HD camera.
The cover glass and panel are laminated together, so cracked glass or ink-blot pressure damage means replacing the display rather than just the glass. A faint halo around bright objects on a black background (“blooming”) is normal mini-LED behaviour, not a fault. Check the model number on the underside of the case to confirm you have the A2779.

If the internal screen is black or unreadable but the Mac still powers on, plug it into a TV or monitor using the built-in HDMI port and make a Time Machine backup before you bring it in. Avoid pressing on the cracked area — it can spread the damage.
