This page covers the first two 12.9-inch iPad Pro models: the 1st generation (2015, A9X chip, model A1584/A1652) and the 2nd generation (2017, A10X Fusion, model A1670/A1671). Both have a 12.9-inch fully laminated Retina LCD at 2732 x 2048, a Home button with Touch ID, a Lightning port and support for the 1st-generation Apple Pencil.
The 2017 model added ProMotion 120Hz and True Tone, so the two generations take different display assemblies — check the model number on the back of your iPad before you come in. Your original Home button is transferred to the new screen, which is what keeps Touch ID working.
