PC Glossary Term

GPU (Graphics Card)

The chip that draws everything on your screen — and for gaming, the single most important part in the box.

The GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) renders every frame you see. Its tier directly decides which resolution and frame rate your PC can handle. Modern GPUs also accelerate video editing, 3D rendering, and AI tools — so creators need one too. VRAM (the GPU’s own memory) matters for texture quality: 8GB is the comfortable standard in 2026.

🎮 For gaming buyers

Match the GPU to your monitor: RTX 3060 class for 1080p, RTX 3070/3070 Ti for 1440p, RTX 3080+ for 4K. Buying more GPU than your monitor can show is wasted money.

💼 For office buyers

Skip it. Integrated graphics in a Ryzen “G” CPU handles Excel, Zoom, and browsing perfectly — saving you $300+. Only add a GPU for design, CAD, or video work.
