PC Glossary Term

ATX vs mATX vs Mini-ITX (Form Factors)

Simply the size of the motherboard and case — pick based on your desk and upgrade plans.

ATX — full size: the most expansion slots, best airflow, easiest to upgrade later. mATX (Micro-ATX) — the compact middle ground: fits full-size GPUs in a smaller case, usually the best value. Mini-ITX — tiny: fits on any desk or travels with you, but tighter to cool and upgrade. Performance is identical across all three with the same parts — form factor is purely about space, upgradability, and looks.

🎮 For gaming buyers

ATX/mATX for max airflow and future GPU upgrades. Mini-ITX if you LAN-party or have a small desk — same FPS, smaller box.

💼 For office buyers

Compact mATX or Mini-ITX keeps the desk clean — without a big GPU, cooling a small case is easy and silent.
