1080p vs 1440p vs 4K (Resolution)
How sharp your screen is — and the first decision that sets your whole PC budget.
1080p (1920×1080, “Full HD”) — the esports standard, cheapest to run at high FPS. 1440p (2560×1440, “2K/QHD”) — noticeably sharper, the 2026 sweet spot between clarity and cost. 4K (3840×2160, “UHD”) — 4× the pixels of 1080p, gorgeous but demands an RTX 3080-class GPU. Rule: pick your monitor’s resolution first, then buy the GPU tier that matches — not the other way around.
Competitive FPS players: 1080p high-refresh. Everyone else: 1440p is the best experience per dollar. 4K only with a 3080+.
Any modern PC drives 1440p or 4K for text and spreadsheets easily — sharper text, less eye strain, no expensive GPU needed.
