PSU & 80+ Ratings (Power Supply)
The unglamorous part that protects every other part — never cheap out here.
The PSU converts wall power into clean, stable power for your components. The “80 PLUS” badge (Bronze → Gold → Platinum) certifies efficiency — and in practice signals better internals, cooler running, and longer life. Wattage should match your GPU: ~550–650W for an RTX 3060/3070, 750W for a 3070 Ti or 3080. A failing cheap PSU can take the motherboard and GPU down with it — it’s the one part where quality is non-negotiable.
GPUs spike power under load — headroom prevents crashes mid-game. 750W Gold also leaves room for a future GPU upgrade.
Without a GPU, 450–550W from a reputable brand is plenty — quieter and more efficient at low loads too.
