Vivo Repair Singapore — What You Need to Know
Everything about Vivo phones, their display types, battery specs and what to expect from a repair in Singapore.
What is Vivo?
Vivo is a Chinese smartphone brand founded in 2009, part of the BBK Electronics group alongside OPPO, OnePlus and Realme. In Singapore, Vivo is well known for its slim designs, large AMOLED displays and in-display fingerprint sensors — particularly across the V-series and X-series. Vivo phones are officially sold in Singapore through authorised retailers and are widely used across all age groups.
Vivo Display Types — AMOLED vs LCD
Most Vivo phones sold in Singapore from 2021 onwards use AMOLED displays — which produce deeper blacks, more vivid colours and support in-display fingerprint sensors. Understanding your display type matters for repair, because AMOLED replacements cost more than LCD panels but deliver significantly better visual quality.
Vivo Model Series Explained
| Series | Positioning | Display | Fingerprint |
|---|---|---|---|
| X-series (X100, X90…) | Flagship | AMOLED curved | In-display |
| V-series (V40, V29…) | Mid-range premium | AMOLED flat/curved | In-display |
| Y-series (Y100, Y78…) | Mid-range/budget | AMOLED or IPS LCD | Side or in-display |
Vivo Battery — FlashCharge & Specs
Vivo uses proprietary fast charging called FlashCharge (44W–120W depending on model). When replacing a Vivo battery, the replacement must be compatible with your model’s FlashCharge wattage — a non-compatible battery will charge but at standard speed only. Our Grade A batteries are rated for the original charging spec of each model.
Signs your Vivo battery needs replacing: draining faster than when new, phone getting warm during normal use, battery percentage jumping suddenly, or unexpected shutdowns before reaching 0%.
In-Display Fingerprint Sensor — What Happens During Screen Repair?
Vivo’s in-display fingerprint sensor is optical — it works by shining light through the AMOLED panel and reading the reflection. When the screen is replaced with a Grade A AMOLED panel, the in-display fingerprint sensor continues to work normally. You may be prompted to re-register your fingerprints after the repair, which takes about 30 seconds.
Common Vivo Repair Questions
Will my Vivo warranty be voided by third-party repair?
Third-party screen or battery replacement typically voids the manufacturer’s hardware warranty on that component. However if your Vivo is out of warranty (or was never under one), third-party repair is the most cost-effective option.
How long does a Vivo screen replacement take?
Most Vivo screen replacements take 45–90 minutes depending on model. V-series and X-series curved displays take a little longer due to the curved glass assembly.
Will a Grade A screen look the same as the original?
Grade A AMOLED panels match the original display specification closely — same resolution, brightness and colour profile. In side-by-side comparison with a new device the difference is minimal.
Is Vivo a good phone brand?
Vivo consistently delivers competitive AMOLED displays, fast charging and slim designs at mid-range price points. The X-series competes directly with Samsung and iPhone at the flagship level. Build quality is generally solid, and parts availability in Singapore is good for models from 2021 onwards.
